956 THE BELLS OF S. ANN'S RUNG FOR THE VICTORY OVER THE SPANIARDS.

Esq. ; Edward Swiney, cooper, having served Wm. Barter, dec., and Gibbs Hoss, do., be admitted freemen at large. '/.. That 18 English shillings be paid to the Ringers of the Bells of S. Ann's, in honour of the Victory obtained by Admiral Rodney over the Spaniards. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Busteed and Pick; Alden. Bury, Wrixon, Webb, Butler, Owgan; Mr. Morrison, Travers, Rowland, Willcocks, and Kingston, C. S. 23 June, 1780. ' ,. Ordered, that an advertisement be published in Bagnell's and Flyn's ~- Newspapers, that the Mayor, &c., will receive proposals for erecting and lighting lamps in this City and suburbs, from 1 Sep. to 1 May from sunset to sunrise, pursuant to Act of Parliament, proposals to be given to the ~fay or. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Busteed ; Alden. Bury, vVethera1l, Maylor, "r ebb, Butler; Mr. Browne, Izod, Travers, Rowland, Willcocks and Morri- son. 12 July, 1780. This day Peter Dumas, Esq., was sworn as Common Speaker. ~-·' Ordered, that 30 guineas be paid Mr. Mayor, for an entertainment at Blackrock Castle on 1 Aug. That Peter Welsh, butcher, having served Thos. Hardaway do., be ad- mitted a freeman. It., £6 Os. 6d. to Mr. Wm. Maturin, for newspapers. Whereas the Direc- tor of the Public Coal Yards of this City is restrained from purchasing coals in said City at a higher price than 3s. 6d. the Barrel, and whereas on account of the high Insurance of Coal Ships and the high wages paid to Seamen, occasioned by the present war, it is apprehended the Director will not be able to purchase coals during this year at the aforesaid price, and this Board being apprehensive the poor of this City will be greatly dis- tressed for want of firing unless the Director be enabled to purchase coals for the public use ; Ordered, that the Director shall be indemnified out of the Corporation revenues for any loss that he shall suffer by purchasing coals for the use of the public, at an higher price than 3s. 6d. a barrel, provided the said Director shall sell out the said coal at an advance price of sixpence the barrel, and provided the lVIayor shall from time to time approve
