WAGES TO BE PAID COAL PORTERS FOR CARRYING COALS.

10 Feb., 1774. Ordered, that the following wages be paid the Coal Porters for carrying coals in this City and liberties : Carriage of each Barrel of Coals 100 yards or under 1d.; do., each Hanel for 100 to 200 yards 1!d.; d0., ·each Barrel o.f coals for above 200 to 300 yards 2d.; do., each Barrel of ooals for above 300 to 400 yards 3d. ; do., each Barrel, do., for above 400 to f>OO yards 4d.; do., each Banel, do., for above 600 to 800 yards 6d.; d<J.., each Barrel, do., for above 800 to 1100 yards Sd. For landing each Barrel on the Quay to be measured id. For bringing each Barrel out of the ship and putting same into a carriage at ship side ld. It., that !d. be paid te> each measurer for measuring a Barrel of coals. It., if any coal porter shall take any higher wages he shall forfeit for each offence 5s., to be recovered in a summary way before the 1\Iayor or any of the Aldermen of the Ward, the penalty to go to the / informer. "'Y.- It., 10 guineas to be paiu annually to Edmond Roche Kinselagh, gent., the Mayor's clerk, in addition to the salary paid him by the Mayor; It., £10 to the Clerk of S. Mary Shandon, for instructing the Boys of S. Stephen's Hospital to sing for one year; It., £50 to .SGber Kent, City overseer, one year's salary to attend the Corporation business as usual, the removal of all nuisances and encroachments, and prosecute all such as cause same in the City and suburbs, and taking an oath to that effeet. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Berry and Carleton ; Alden. Westropp, Millerd, Philpott, Bury, Franklin, Maylor, Wrixon, Sntith; Mr. Browne, Izod, and Lapp, C. S. 4 March, 1774. Ordered, that 150 Barrels of coal be bought; It., £53 17s. 5!d. to Richd. Burt, glazier, for work done. It., £15 3s. 6d. to Sampson Austen, for woollen goods supplied; It., £22 3s. 9d. to said Austen, for woollen goods supplied for the use of the boys of S. Stephen's Hospital.
