78 in the parish of S. Paul, 223 in the parishes of S. l\fary Shandon and S. Ann and the suburbs belonging, 122 in the parishes of S. }"'inbarry and S. Nicholas an<l suburbs belonging, 38 in the Main Street, on posts between the North and South gate, that they be lighted on the 8 Nov. at sun setting, auu continue lighting to sun rising, to 1 l\fay next, and every succeeding year they be lighted on 1 Sep., and they be lighted with good rape seed oil or good fish oil, or rape and fish oil mixed together, that the gl~s of the said. lamps be kept. cleaned,. and trimmed and snuffed when necessary, and we hereby fix that the sum of £1 ls. 5d. (amounting to £856 13s. 4d.) shall be paid for maintaining each lamp from 8 Nov. next, to 1 May, and that £1 5s. (amounting to £1000) be paid for trimming, &c., same from 1 Sep., 1773 to 1 May, 1774, and whereas the sum of £1016 lOs. 3d. is appointed by the act to be paid to ·the Mayor, &c., and that the Mayor, &c., shall cause saiu sum to be added in eight equal yearly successive divisions, to be raised for erecting, &c., said lamps, now we, the 1\.fayor, &c., do appoint the eight part, v·iz., £127 ls. 3!d., to be raised for said purpose. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Harris and Franklin; Alden. Owgan, Millerd, Philpott, W etheral, }"'rank.lin, J .. Smith, Maylor, Baker, Webb ; Mr. Browne, and Fuller, C. S. 3 Nov., 1772. This day the Mayor, &c., executed articles of agreement with Joseph IIarris, Mercht. as lamp contractor for erecting, lighting, &c., lamps in the City and Suburbs for three years, from 1 July last, with the security, to wit, Saml. Beale, mercht., and William Harris, do., for a bond payable to the 1\Iayor, &c., foT £2000. It., that £142 3s. 9d. be paid the Trustees for supplying the City with water, being the Corporation's fifth dividend on 25 shares at 5 guineas each share; It., £10 to the Clerk of S.l\fary Shandon, for which he is to instruct the Boys of S.
