LETTER TO TilE RECORDER ABOUT MOSES DEANE'S CHARITY.

22 Nov., 1771. It is the opinion of this Council that the Trustees of the Will of Moses Deane, Esq., dec., be summoned to meet at the Council Chamber next Wed- nesday, at 11, to appoint a Committee to adjust the accounts of the Chari- ties left by said will, from the time of the death of said Moses Deane, with Savage French, Esq., execr. of Sampson Towgood French, Esq., dec., execr. of Sampson Towgood, Esq., dec., who was execr. of said Moses Deane. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Wrixon; Alden. Westropp, Millerd, Philpott, Swete, Bury, Franklin, J. Smith, Maylor, Baker, Mr. Browne and Lawton, c. s. 27 Nov., 1771. No business for want of a sufficient number.-Wm. Snowe, Clk. of Council. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Wrixon; Alden. Westropp, MillerQ., Busteed, Philpott, Bury, Baker, and Mr. Browne. 28 Nov., 1771. Ordered, that £54 be paid Esther Holmes for necessaries supplied for several boys apprenticed from the Blue Coat Hospital, from 20 Nov., 1769, to 21 Aug., 1771, to be accounted for on the loan, &c. It., that the following letter be written to the Recorder by the Clerk of the Council : Council Chamber, Corke, 28 Nov., 1771. Dr. Sir,-" By directions of the Mayor, &c., I am to inform you, that in consequence of the agreement that the Council had entered into between them, as trustees of the will of Moses Deane, Esq., and Mr. Savage French, for settling the accounts of the charitable donations of Mr. Deane, a com- mittee was appointed in writing (a copy is enclosed) and signed by the 1\Iayor, &c., but this day Mr. French attended the Council, and has declined submitting to have the accounts in his possession settled by the committee in the amicable manner it was first agreed upon, so that no method now remains but a compulsary one to oblige Mr. French to settle those accounts. You will please to let the Rt. Hon. the House of Lords know of this trans- action, that their Lordships may take such steps as they think most expe- dient."
