856 MEMORIAL FOR THE REPEAL OF ACT FOR BENEFIT OF INSOLVENT DEBTORS.

12 Feb., 1771. No business for want of a sufficient number. -Wm. Snowe, Clk. of Council. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Cossart ; Alden. Owgan, Philpott, Swete, and Wrixon. 14 Feb., 1771. This day the Mayor, &c., appointed the public coal yard to be kept in the yard and linny on Hatnan's Marsh, belonging to Mr. Francis Penrose, at the yearly rent of £22 158. It., the Mayor, &c., granted a licence to Joseph Merrick, chandler, to purchase coals and keep a cellar, having first, with two sufficient securities, passed a bond to the Mayor. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Cossart and Lucas ; Alden. Millerd, Philpott, Bury, Franklin, Wrixon, J. Smith, and Baker. 27 Feb., 1771. No business for want of a sufficient number.- Wm. This day, the Mayor, &c., appointed a public coal yard to be kept in the yard on Lavit's Island, belonging to Mr. John Lawton, at a yearly rent of £30 ; It., that £22 158. be paid Mr. Francis Penrose for paving the Coal Yard, to be repaid him by Mr. Izod. This day, the Mayor, &c., signed a Memorial to Parliament, praying a repeal of the Act for the benefit of Insolvent debtors. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Cossart and Lucas ; Alden.
