" We dissent to all the foregoing orders for admitting the several persons freemen of this City, except such as have undoubted rights to their frecumn by birth or servitude (and likewise· for the Mayor), who proposed them, not knowing either the persons or places of abode of many o£ them."-Haruing Parker, Hllgh, lfillenl, Tho. Ordered, that a lease of the present Cattle Market, witft the audition of three quarters·of an acre of ground adjoining, pursuant to the map now showed to the Council, Le taken by the Mayor, &c., from Abraham 1\{orris, Esq., and Jonas AI orris, Esq., at a yearly rent of 30 guineas, for a term of ten thousand years, from 24 June next. It., that a Corporation bond be passed to the trustees for supplying this City with water for 150 guineas at 5 per cent., being the second subscrip- tion of six guineas on the 25 shares of said water, belonging to tlus Cor- poration. It., that £39 98. be paid Andrew Dalton, carpenter, for repairing the cupola of the. Exchange. It., £20 to John Uogers for painting and gilding the four dial-plates of the Exchange clock. It., £31 128. 4~d. to 1\Iess. Samt. and George Beale, mercht., for lead sold by them; It., 13s. 10}d. to Jacob Jervois for Turner's work; It., 18s. 8£l. to Joseph Harris for sixteen yards of green Camblet for a cu1-tain for the door of the dining-room at the l\Iayoralty House. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Bousfield and Kellet; Alden. Newman, Parker, Westropp, Millerd, Busteed, Philpott, Bury, Wetherall, Phillips, :Franklin, Owgan, Wrixon; Mr. Browne, and Lawton, C. S. 31 Oct., 1769.
