826 DANGEROUS CONDITION OF SKIDDY'S CASTLil FOR KEEPING POWDER.

22 Jan., 1768.

' Ordered, that the overseers for buildiag the Mayoralty House agree with \ Patrick Osburne for stuccoing the staircase, lobby, and drawing-room of l said house, and also with a proper person for erecting four marble chimney- j pieces~ two in the dining-room and two in the drawing-room; also for j . erecting a portico and proper entrance into the said house; also for finish- ing all carpenter's work that remains to be done, painting, and doing the outside stucco. It., that Ald. Millerd, Franklin, and Mr. Browne be a committee to examine the accounts of the overseers for building the Mayoralty house, to inspect the tradesmen's accounts with regard to the prices charged, and report. That an application be made, in the name of this Board, to the Lo.-Lieut. for three troops of Cavalry to be appointed for this City, and for building Barracks for their reception. Also an appli,cation setting forth the dangerous condition of Skiddy's Castle for keeping powder in as a magazine, and praying that a powder- magazine may be erected in some part of the outskirts of this City ; also that Skiddy's Castle may be granted for the Main Guard of this City. The 8s. 5d. be paid Mr. Burgess Wrixon, being the expenses of measuring 'the distances in the parishes of S. Mary Shandon and S. Peter for erecting lamps. It., .£1 8s. 6!d. to Richard Evans, Exchange Porter, for brooms, sand, &c. Present--Mr. Mayor, Sher. French and Lawton ; Alden. Millerd, Bury, Wetherall, J. Smith, J.
