800 A THOUSAND POU~DS BORROWED TOWARDS BUILDING MAYORALTY HOUSE.

Ordered, that an address be presented to the Lord Lieut. to return thanks for his attention to the happiness of the people of this kingdom in forward- ing the bill to prevent the exportation of corn for a limited time. That £1000 be borrowed at 5 per cent., to be applied towards building a Mayoralty House. That the debts due the Corporation be immediately sued for in such manner as Mr. Lane, Clk. of this Council, shall think proper. That Ald. Owgan, Swete, and Mr. Browne be a committee to state the accounts of Skiddy's and Bretridge's Alms houses. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Rowland and Willcocks; Alden. ,Jackson, Owgan, Westropp, Busteed, Swete, Franklin, Jon. Smith, Travers; Mr. Browne, and Denroch, C. S. 21 .April, 1766. Ald. Owgan, Swete, and Mr. Browne having been appointed to examine the accounts of Francis Carleton, Esq., relative to Bretridge's and Skiddy's Charities, report, that there is a balance due from Carleton of £483 12s. 11d.: £63, one year's rent of the lands of Drumcummer, on 29 Sep. last, and £24 English, one year's annuity due 29 Sep. last of the Master and Wardens of the Vintners' Company of London, and that Bretridge's seven men and Skiddy's twelve widows have been paid to 8 Feb. last, and that the above balance of £483 128. 11d. be carried by the Chamberlain to the credit of the Corporation. . j i. • That 15 guineas be paid Mr. Mayor for Dan 1• Murphy, loss of time during • his confinement as witness to prosecute Robt. Murray for the murder of l Capt. Rea; It., £1 88. 6d. to the Sheriffs, expenses in going to Cove to prevent a riot being committed there by the mob, on a report that some ,__ ships were taking in Potatoes and Meal for exportation; It., 20 guineas to Mr. Mayor, to be applied for premiums for bringing Potatoes, Corn, and meal to this City. That Stephen, eldest son of Ald. Winthrop, and John Carey, mercht., having served John Lawton, do., be admitted free.
