MOSES DEANE'S BEQUEST TO THE PARISH OF S. PETER.
That Mr. Mayor, Sher. Rowla:ad and Willcocks, Alden. Westropp, Robt. Wrixon, Philpott, Bury, be a committee to state the Chamberlain's accounts. That the Rt. Hon. Lord Brandon, now in this City, be presented with his freedom in a Silver box; also the Rt. Ron. the Earl of Carrick in a Silver box, in testimoey.of 'his Lordship signalizing himself in support of the Protestant religion. Wh~eas J-;:mes· Curtin, now in gaol for £63, all of which he is not able to pay,·ordered, that Curtin, paying £23 and passing his bond for £10 half- yearly, be discharged. That a further sum of £40 be paid for finishing the building at Black- rock. Present--Mr. Mayor, Sher. Rowland and Willcocks; Alden. Jackson, Newman, Owgan, Westropp, Millerd, Wrixon, Busteed, John Wrixon,. John Smith, Philpott, and Mr. Denroch, C. S. • 19 Oct., 1765. Whereas Sir Robt. Deane hath paid £1200 left by the will of Moses Deane, Esq., for purchasing an estate in fee simple in Co. Corke, for school- ing, cloathing and providing for 20 B9J:~L ~d . 20 Maids in the parish of S. Peter in this City, and of which bequest the Mayor, Sheriffs, Common Speaker, and Common Council of this City, the Ministers and Church Wardens of the Parishes of S. Peter, S. Mary Shandon, Christ Church, and S. Nicholas are appointed overseers, ordered, that £50 a year be paid out of the Corporation revenues for the support of said boys and maids, until a convenient purchase be had, pursuant to said will ; and further, that Ald. Hodder be paid off the debt (out of said money) due to him from the Cor- poration. This day Ald. Busteed produced the account of Water dues received from 29 Sep., 1764, to 29 Sep. last, being £137 Os. 7d. over and above said Busteed's Salary and all expenses, &c. That a deed be executed by the Mayor, &c., under the Common Seal, to Sampson Towgood French, Esq., sole executor of Sampson Towgood, Esq., who was surviving executor of Moses Deane, Esq., dec., to indemnify said S. T. French, his heirs,-&c., on account of £1200 legacy of said Moses Deane for supporting 20 boys and 20 maids in the parish of S. Peters, 100-2
