782 PARAPET WALLS ON THE EDGES OF QUAYS, DYKES, AND CANALS OF CITY,

Shambles, Cattle 1\farket-house, stable and linneys, North and South Shambles, Fish do., Fowl and Frize Market, and the two watch-houses. Proposals will be received by Mr. Mayor. That Thomas, eldest son of Roger Williams, gent., dec., be admitted free. Ordered, that 20 guineas be paid Councrs. Verling and Bennett for draw- ing the draft of the Iast act of Parliament. "This day received Martin's lease of the 'Vlll.te Tower out of the chest.- Wm. Snowe." (Note on Margin). Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Rowland; Alden. Jackson, Newman, Owgan, Winthrop, Crone, Wrixon, Busteed, Philpott, Bury, Franklin, John Wrixon, and Mr. Scott, C. S. 31 July, 1764. This day Mr. Saml. Bagwell, as C. S., took the oath of secrecy. Ordered, that an entertainment be provided at Blackrock to-morrow, being 1 Aug., that Mr. Mayor provide same, not to exceed 20 pounds. We, the Mayor, &c., in pursuance of an act of Parliament made in 3 year of his MajY. reign, do hereby direct the building of parapet walls of the height of four feet, and breadth not exceeding two feet, on the several quays and on the edges of the several dykes and canals of the City and suburbs, leaving proper openings convenient for the shipping and landing goods and merchandises as mentioned in the act, and we direct the Clerk of the Council or his deputy to give notice to the chief tenants dwelling in the several houses or occupying the cellars and other buildings on said quays and dykes, and in case said houses be wasted or any part of the ground fronting said quays, canals, or dykes be unbuilt, to the owner interested therein, before whose ground such wall is to be built, to build said parapet wall within the time mentioned in the act under penalty. That £56 1 Os. 11d. be paid Ald. Westropp, Master of the Blue Coat Hospital, so much paid by him for the use of said Hospital, to be accounted for on the loan of £900 from said hospital to the Corporation ; It., 6 guineas to the Revd. Mr. Michool Tisdal, Corporation Chaplain, for six sermons preached before the Corporation; It., £99 6s. 8d. to Mr. Nich. Wrixon, attY., for law business from Mich., 1763, to Hil., 1764. Paul Piersy, mercht., having served Messrs. James and George Piersy, Merchts. ; John Day, mercht., having served Mr. Burgess Lane, to be free.
