A PLAN FOR A BRIDGE BELOW THE CUSTOM HOUSE REJECTED.

29 Dec., 1763. No business for want of sufficient numbers.-Wm. Snowe, Dep. Clk. of Council. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Rowland; Alden. Westropp, Crone, Hodder, Philpott, Bury, and Mr. C. S. 10 Jan., 1764. Ordered, that £17 2s. 10~d. be paid Roger Ouldin, mason, for work done; It., £1119s. 7d. to Andrew Coleman, tyler, for work done; It., £9 9s. to Jeremiah Hogan, for stones and brick; It., £4 16s. 6~d. to William Whit- ney, upholsterer, for new covering the Corporation Gallery in S. Peter's . Church; It., £2 16s. to Revd. Michl. Tisdal, Corporation Chaplain, to buy a x· new Tippet; It., £31 4s. 3!d. to William Harrington, Ship Carpenter, for repairing the Corporation boat, and erecting two new spits in the harbour below Cove. That Mr. Sher. Rowland and Coles, Alden. Westropp, Wrixon, Philpott, Swete, and Bury, be a .committee to state the Chamberlain's accounts. That £41 16s. 10!d. be paid wm.Reynolds, silversmith, for the Gold box in which his freedom was presented to the Lord Lieutenant. · William Taylor, Tallow chandler, having served George Johnson, do. ; and Greatrakes Smitlt, mercht., having served Richd. Lawton, do., freemen at large. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Rowland; Alden. Owgan, Westropp, Crone, Busteed, Swete, Bury, Philpott, and Mr. Scott, C. S. 10 Feb., 1764. That the Rt. Hon. Will Henry Fortescue, Esq., Post Master Gen. of Ireland, and James Smith, Esq., Captain of His Maj. Ship Hussar, stationed Y on this coast, be presented with their freedom in Silver boxes. This day a plan was laid before the Council of a Bridge to be built over the North Channel of the river Lee, below the Custom House, unanimously rejected, as of the highest detriment to the trade and inhabitants of this City. That £18 3s. 2!d. be paid Ald. Hodder, for silversmith's work done by him ; It., £4 to Mr. John Wood, for one year's rent of Blackpool Guard- bouse.
