That 128. 5!d. be paid James Supple for repairing the City fire engine; It., .£10 38. 9!d. to Mr. Mayor, expenses about the Militia, the Levellers, and cash given to carry home some soldiers' wives left in this City after embarkation of thei11husbands; It., .£18 38. 4d. to Mrs. Esther Holmes for clothing supplied the Bellmen and Exchange Porter; It., .£7 178. 11d. to Eugene Swiney for printing work from 1758 to 1761, and that said Swiney be no further employed by this board; It., .£11 78. 6d. to Silvester Clarke, cooper, for coal barrels; It., .£8 68. 3d. to Mr. Sheriff Morrison, so much expended by him to Soldiers, Sergeants and Corporals, for instructing the City Militia; It., .£9 for nine inquests from 18 Jan. last to 13 April last; It., 10 guineas to James Lill, storekeeper of this City, for services done for the City. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Fitton and Morrison ; Alden. Jackson, Wes- tropp, Wrixon, Busteed, Harding, Philpott, Swete, Bury, Wetherall, and Clarke, C. S. 9 June, 1762. Whereas it appears to this Board that Lieut. Gov. Molesworth still per- sists in refusing Guards to the Mayor for the protection of the Peace of this City, and particularly refused a Guard last Friday, the 7 inst., ordered, that a memorial be sent to the Government in the name of the Mayor, &c., setting forth the whole proceeding. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Fitton and Morrison; Alden. Jackson, Brad- shaw, Owgan, Westropp, Crone, Busteed, Harding, Bury, Wetherall, Wrixon, Millerd, Swete, Philpott, and Clarke, C. S. 16 June, 1762. This day Ald. Owgan, W rixon, Mr. Sher. Fitton and Morrison, Ald. Hard- ing and Bury, Mr. John Cossart, and Peter Cambridge appointed a com- mittee to settle the public accounts, report, that they examined Mr. Francis Carleton's accounts as Chamberlain to 29 Sep. last, and that a ballance of .£259 188. 2!d. was due from said Carleton to the Corporation. That an advertisement be published for proposals for paving the Main Street and the North and South bridges. Whereas Messrs wra. Lawton and Kevan Izod, me:rcht., have given a proposal for sweeping and keeping clean the Main Street from North Gate 96
