758 THE STOREKEEPER OF SKIDDY'S CASTLE TO DELIVER MUSQUETS TO MAYOR.

9 April, 1762. The Council having been informed that a Bill for the better collecting, &c., the public money, regulating coaches, &c., and the Harbour of Cork, has met with some obstruction in England, as to its passing as a Public Bill, ordered, that the expense of carrying said Bill into a Law shall be paid out of the revenues of the Corporation to Mr. Nich. Wrixon, agent in Dublin. ~ That .£2 18s. 6d. be paid the Ringers of St. Mary Shandon Bells, for several rejoycing days, to 6 April, inst. It., .£44 8s. O!d. to Mr. Will. Bull, attorney, his bill of costs, &c., in the quarterage complaint. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Fitton and Morrison ; Alden. Westropp, Win- throp, Crone, Wrixon, Busteed, Harding, Philpott, Bury, and Wetherall. 23 April, 1762. Whereas the Mayor received a letter from the Lord-Lieuts. SecY., signify- ing that orders are sent to the Store-keeper here to deliver to the Corpo- ration such a number of musquets out of Skiddy's Castle as they shall require, giving a promise under their hand and seal to keep same in good order, and return them when required; ordered, that the Mayor do apply to the Storekeeper for such number of musquets as he shall think proper, get the same put in repair, and execute said instrument according to proposal of Government. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Fitton and Morrison; Alden. J ackgon, Millerd, Crone, Wrixon, Busteed, Swete, Harding, Philpott, Hodder, Winthrop, and Clark, C. S. 27 April, 1762. Whereas Mr. Mayor, on 25 inst., by letter, applied to Lieut.-Col. Moles- worth, Com. Officer of this Garrison, informing him that a guard, which con- sisted of a Corporal and sbt men, that had some time past been kept in Cove Street, a remote part of this City, had been discontinued, and desiring that for preservation of the King's peace the same guard should be kept there for the future; and whereas Lieut. Col Molesworth peremptorily refused the orders of the Mayor ; and this Board being of opinion that such a pro- ceeding is a high contempt of the civil magistracy exerted by the military
