754 PETITION AGAINST THE PRESENT ACT FOR WEIGHING BUTTER, ETC.

29 Sep., 1760, report that they stated the accounts of Francis Carleton, Esq., Chamberlain, to said date, and that the sum of £1099 148. 4~d. was due from said Carleton to the Corporation~ That Sher. Fitton and Morrison, Alden. Owgan, Westropp, Wrixon, Bury. and Harding be a committee to state the Chamberlain's accounts to 29 Sep., 1761. That a letter be written by Mr. Hoare to Sr. John Freke, to desire him to wait on the Earl of Shannon, and settle the suit now against him and others for the recovery of the legacy left to the Blue Coat Hospital by Ab. Dickson, dec. That Mr. Sher. Fitton, Alden. Owgan, Westropp, Harding and Bury be a committee to state the accounts between the Blue Coat Hospital, Skiddy's and Bretridge's Alms Houses, and report. That £4 17 s. 2d. be paid Messrs. Phineas and George Bagnell, for printing work done in the Mayoralty of Ald. Wetherall. That Mr. Mayor, Sher. Fitton and Morrison be a committee to treat with ~·· Mr. ~evan~~ and Mr. Wm. Lawton with regard to their proposal for keeping the streets clean. It., £6 to Mr. John Wood, a year and half's rent for the Guard Room at BlackpooL That an address be prepared to Mr. Pitt, in the name of the Mayor, &c., Merchants, and Traders, for his faithful, wise, and vigorous conduct as one of His Maj. Principal Sec,... of State, whereby great honour, &c., has arisen to this kingdom. That Alden. Jackson, Harding, Philpott, Wetherall be a committee to inspect the ground granted to the Corporation by Dr. Brocklesby, and return to the Council plans of a Guard Room and such Markets as can be built thereon. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Fitton and Morrison; Alden. Jackson, New- man, Westropp, Wrixon, Crone, Busteed, Philpott, Bury, Wetherall, Owgan, and Harding. 12 Dec., 1761. Ordered, that Willm. Snowe, Dep. Clk. of the Council, do employ Counc 1• Verling to draw a petition to the H.
