GRANT OF MONEY FOR REPAIRIXG THE NORTH STRAND.

having served Benj. Whiting, mercht.; Thomas Ryal, having served Thomas Williams, butcher; Thomas Chute, mercht., having served Ald. Harding; Wm. Skeyes, Jun., mercht., having served his father, William Skeyes, and Wm. Beamish, gent., Captain of the Patty and Jenny, tender in H. M. S., be admitted free at large. That £10 a-year be paid Nich. Fitton, to keep the City fire engines in good repair, to play them once a month, and attend all accidental fires, to work the engines, and give a bond of £50 penalty for due performance of these conditions. Present- Mr. Mayor, Sher. Parks ; Alden. Jackson, Farren, Westropp, Crone, Reily, Philpott; Mr. Shadwell, C. S., Ald. Wrixon and Harding.

This day Mr. Mayor, and also the Sheriffs, took the oath as Council men. That a door be put to the Corporation Slip under the Exchange, to prevent dirt being thrown into it. That the Meat Shambles near the Exchange be repaired, and that Ald. Wrixon and Busteed oversee same. 'x·/ That an advertisement be published in Bagnall's News Paper, that the City accounts have been settled to 29 Sep., 1758, and that they remain in the Town Clerk's office for the inspection of the Freemen.

Whereas by order of Council, 29 July, 1736, £100 was ordered to be paid for repairing North Strand, and said repairs were neglected till lately, when Ald. Bradshaw, Robt. Rogers of Lota, Esq., and Francis Carleton undertook same, and by subscription ~.-. greatly advanced said repairs; ordered, that £100 be paid said Bradshaw, Rogers, _and Carleton in aid thereof. That £4 Os. 3!d. be paid Francis Evans, Exchange Porter, for brooms, sand, &c. That a suit be carried on in His MajYs. Court of Excheq. to try the right of recovering quarterage, and that Mr. Hoare take care thereof. Present-- Mr. Mayor, Sher. Franklin and Conner ; Alden. Jackson, Farren, Owgan, Westropp, Tayler, Crone, Wrixon, Busteed, Philpott, and Reily.
