712 DOCK BETWEEN DAUNT'S BRIDGE AND POST OFPICE TO BE ARCHED OVER.
Present--Mr. Mayor, Sher. Westropp; Alden. Farren, Westropp, Lavit, Crone, Wrixon, Busteed, Reily, H~rding, and Rickotts, C. S.
14 Sep., 1758. Whereas Sam 1• Hoare, Esq., one of the Surveyors of the Cove of Cork, has been appointed one of His Maj. Justices of the Peace for co. Cork, on the remonstrance of the Mayor and Merchants of Cork to the Govern- ment, that a Justice of the Peace resident at Cove would be of great use to the trade of this City, ordered, that the expenses of the Commission for said Hoare be paid out of the Corporation revenues. That 20 guineas a-year be paid Mr. Wm. Snowe, Dep. Clerk of Council, for his trouble in entering the orders of the Council. This day, Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs, Alden. Reily, Busteed, and Westropp, reported to the Council, that the Dock belonging to the Corporation at Daunt's Bridge, and ending at the Post Office, is very noisome to the Public, and same ought to be arched over, and that the upper part next the Post Office, when arched, will be a proper place to build a Mayoralty House, with a handsome avenue leading therefrom to Daunt's Bridge, to be always left open as a public walk ; ordered, that said dock be forthwith arched over, and that the Mayor, Sheriffs, and C. S., Alden. Farren, W estropp, Busteed, Wri.xon, and Reily, be a committee for arching said Dock, and preparing a plan of a Mayoralty house and offices, &c. That .£10 12s. Sid. be paid Kane Mahony, Vintnor, expenses of an enter- tainment at the Exchange, on receiving the agreeable news of the taking of Luisburg from the French; also .£100 to Mrs. Eliz. Croker, widow of Ald. Croker, to enable her to provide for herself and children, as her husband has died in very low circumstances. Present-Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs; Alden. This day Mr. Sher. Parks took the oath of a Council man as Sheriff. Whereas Mr. Mayor has been served with an order out of the .Kin<7's b Bench to show cause why he should not be attached at the prosecution of
