17 Oct., 1757. Usher Philpot, Esq., Mayor. ' This day Mr. Mayor, also Mr. Sheriffs Travers and Westropp were sworn Common Council Men. That Hugh Taylor buy 50 Barrels of coals for the usc of the City. That £5 be paid to Mr. Robt. Hoare, to be by him laid out in endeavour- ing to find and redeem the several measures, &c., formerly lodged with a stamp master and not found for several years. That 12 new coal barrels be made, and the several old ones, that can bo made good, repaired, and such as are unfit for use to be knocked in pieces, the sheets sold for what they may bring. That Richd. Lane, mercht., having served the present Mayor; Gcrvo.s Hall, gent., having served Charles Waddington; and Joseph, eldest son of Richd. Fish, dec., be admitted freemen at large. That £32 28. 2ld. be paid Mr. W•. Bull, attJ., law expenses ; also £60 78. 9d. to Mr. Robt. Hoare, his bill of costs; also £20 to Alden. Jackson, Farren, Wrixon, and Harding to build a guard house at the North Shambles near Shandon Church, according to a plan approved of; also £12 118. 8d. to Richd. Bagwell, for painting work done at Blackrock Castle; also £8 118. 9d. to Thos. Dyer, for plumbing work done at Blackrock and else- where. That the petty customs gathered for standings be set by public cant to the highest bidder on 15 Nov. next for one year, subject to the restrictions as said petty customs were. Present--Mr. Mayor, Sheriffs Travers and Wcstrop ; Alden. Croker, Farren, Fuller, Owgan, Taylor, Crone, Wrixon, Busteed, Hodder, Reily, and Mr. Moore, C. S. 26 Oct., 1757. That Wm. Bishop, gent., having served Mr. Andrew Peace, apothecary ; Thomas Burnett, mercht., having served W•. Burnett, mercht., be admitted freemen at large. That £8 68. 4d. be paid Andrew Dalton, for carpenters' work done ; also £7 1•. lO!d. be paid Thomas Holland, Tyler and Slater, for work done; alsQ £3 28. 8d. to Kane Mahony, so much expended at Blackrock Castle
