BOUNTY TO ABLE VOLUNTEEq SEAMEN. 685 Mayoralty of S!'. John Freke; also 5s. 5d. to Eugene Sweeny, fur printing Proclan1ation during Freke's l\Iayoralty; also 15s. B~<l. to Ti1nothy Hughes, for gunsmith's work done during the l\Iayoralty of Ald. Lavit ; also £1 13s. 10d. to Francis Adams, Exchange Porter, for sand, brooms, &c. Whereas it is reported that his Excellency Wm., Marquis of Hartington, Lord Lieut., &c., intends honouring this City with his presence, ordered, that Mr. Mayor present him with his freedom in a Gold box engraved with tho City Arms, that lodgings be taken for him, and an entertainment provided ..,_,_,.....- ·-- -- -·---- ~-----· for him, and that Mr. Mayor, Ald 00 • Lavit, Wrixon, Millard, and Dusteed be a Committee with power to call on tho Chamberlain for what money they may requue. Present--Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs; Ald 60 • Atkins, Croker, Owgan, Lavit, Tayler, 1\Iillerd, Crone, Wrixon, Dusteed, and Parks, C. S. 2G ltlay, 1755. Whereas the Spy Sloop of War is lately come into this harbour of Cork, ordered, that a Proclamation be issued offering a reward of 30s. to every able seaman within the Co. of this City who shall volunteer on board any ) of his MajY'•. ships or sloops of war in tl1is harbour, in three months from the date of this Proclamation, over and besides his Maj. bounty, said reward to be paid to such seaman or his order who will engage with the Mayor of this City to serve, and who shall produce a certificate signed by the Com- mander of such ship or sloop of war. That Sheriff Smith, Ald 811 • Croker, Newman, the C. S. and Mr. Hoare are appointed to attend on his Excellency at Youghal, Tallow, or where he first comes into the Co. Cork, and in the name of the City to invite his Excellency and his Company to dine with the Corporation the day he arrives in Cork, \ and to beg of his Excellency to name the day and hour of his dining. That a Cap of ·Maintenance be immediately provided for the Sword Bearer. The following young gentlemen are appointed to wait on the Lord Lieu- tenant at table the day he dines with the City; Mr. Jacob Laulke, Mr. Thos. Farren, Jun., Mr. John Travers, and Mr. Joseph Fish. That any three of the gentlemen appointed to prepare the Entertainment and take lodgings for his Excellency shall have power to- order money on an order signed by any three of them.
