Croker, Jackson, Farran, Owgan, Lavit, Crone, Wrixon, Dusteed, Smith; 1\Ir. Travers, and Parkes, c. s. 26 Sep., 1754. That 13s. be paid Timothy Keefe, for cleaning the Exchange slip for one year. Whereas two different plans for opening a passage from the South Bridge to Tuckey's Quay have been this day laid before the Council, ordered, that Mr. Recorder, Alden. Atkins, Dusteed, F::uren, Owgan, 'Vestrop, Wrixon, and Mr. Fran. Carleton be appointed a Committee to examine said plans, and l'eport which is·the best and can be done at least expense. Whereas Ald. Sam•. Croker was (8 May, 1738) ~ppointed for one year assistant to Ald. Crone, in the management of the gateage, and said Croker, at the desire of the Council, afterwards for several years assisted said Crone, and said Crone stands indebted to the Corporation for .£83 Os. 3d., ordered, that he be paid .£50 for his attendance, for first year, and for his attendance since he be released from the said debt of .£83 Os. 3d., and also he be paid the further sum of 150 guineas, in manner following, viz., .£50 in six months, 50 guineas in twelve months, 50 guineas in a year and a half, and 50 guineas in two years from the date hereof. That Allan Jefferies be admitted free at the request of Sir John Freke, Bart., our present Mayor. That Mountiford Browne, Mercht., having served Ald. Lavit; Michrel, eldest son of Ald. Parker; Noblet, eldest son :or Bartholomew Breton; Thoa. Walter, Mercht., having served Wm. Harding; Warren, eldest son of Thos. Crooke, be admitted free at large of this City. That John and Solomon Newsome have liberty to turn half an arch to join the North Arch of the North Bridge, in aid of a presentment granted at the assizes for repairing and widening the passage t'l the North Abbey, and that said persons have liberty to widen the quay before the houses of Anthony Deeves, the late Jam~s U,Epington, James Morrough, and Moses Newsome, leaving a slip ten feet wide for the watering of cattle at the west end, said 86-2
