Smith pay Mr. John Shadwell, agent for said Alms-houses, £19 lOs. ll!d., ballance of the money paid . said Ald. Smith · by the executors of Ald. Millerd, dec. That £55 be paid Mr. James Harnett, expenses he was at in obtaining a patent for holding fairs at C~ohQ.o in the North Liberties, said Hart- nett having agreed to surrender said patent, &c., as Council shall advise, it being the opinion of this board that the expenses of prosecuting a law-suit to lay aside said patent would amount to more than £55. This day Nicholas Bernard was chosen one of the persons to erect and maintain lights in this City, in room of Henry Whetcroft, dec., giving security within 21 days. That £6 l4s. 5!d. be paid Ald. Crone, expenses he was put to as Mayor, on a complaint by the bail of one Harman Raynes in the Court of King's Bench. That £5 2s. 9!d. be paid Ald. Croker, so much expended by him in taking the Recorder's opinion about the Bread and Butter Acts, and money paid soldiers for aiding to suppress riots, &c. Present-Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs ; Alden. Austin, Croker, Atkins, Owgan, 'l'aylor, Millerd, W estropp, W rixon, Crone, Busteed and Mr. Travers. 28 March, 1754. Ordered, that Henry Crabb Bolton, Esq., one of the Directors of the Hon. J. ·'E. India Company, be presented with his freedom in a Silver box. l Whereas the debt due to Mr. John Dennis, by bond, exceeds £200, ordered, that it be paid out of the money of the Alms-houses. That in future no orders belonging to the Alms-houses of this City be entered in the Common Council Book, but in particular Council Books to be kept for each Alms House, and all orders heretofore entered be tran- scribed into such particular books. Present- Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs ; Alden. Croker, Atkins, Farren, Owgan, _Westropp, Winthrop, Taylor, Crone, Wrixon, Busteed, and Mr. Travers.
