PETITION TO BRI~G THE KERRY TURNPIKE TO BLARNEY CROSS.

i That Mr. William Dobbins be admitted a freeman. That Jehosaphat Huleatt apply to Ald. Lavit to purchase at the Wood as much oak timber for piles for the support of the North and South Bridges when wanted. That John Ireland, Ironmonger, paying £5 ; Attiwell, eldest son of Russell Wood, dec.; Thomas Huet, who served Phineas Bagwell ; Benjamin Sweet, Esq.; and Hugh Swayne, Esq., be admitted freemen at large. Present--Mr. Mayor, Sheriff Webb and Sweet; Alden. Atkins, Millerd, Austin, Jackson, Parker, Owgan, Winthrop, Taylor, Crone ; Mr, Travers, Ald. Westrop and Lavit. 21 Dec., 17 49. Whereas a petition hath been laid before the·House of Commons of --\.-. Ireland by one John Murphy, in order to bring the turnpike of the Kerry road, to the mile house. in the North Liberties of this City and Blarney Cross, and whereas we apprehend that if a Turnpike should be erected in pursuance thereof, it would be highly disadvantageous to the City of Corke and the Liberties, also to t}:le County of Corke. Ordered, that the Clerk of the Council lay before the hecorder instructions to draw a memorial to the . House of Commons and the Privy ·council to oppose said Petition. .Present--Mr. Mayor, Sher.
