attending and preventing of several riots last May day, several other days, and also at Cork fair. On reading a report made by Randal Westrop, Esq., Robt. Atkins, Esq., and Mr. Russell Wood (in relation to an order of Council made 3 July, 1744) relating to the case of Joseph Bennett, Esq., concerning a lease made by his father, Mr. Edward Bennet, to one John Bohilly, of a house and plot of ground in Bandon road, which said Joseph alleged was mortgaged to Miles Martin in trust for the Corporation, the said Inspectors say they find in the Chest a mortgage of said lease mentioned to be made to Miles Martin, in consideration of £28 15s. 8d., and that said Martin executed a deed of trust on the back of said Mortgage, declaring same to be in trust for this Corporation, but said Martin made no assignment of said Mortgage by said deed last mentioned, the said affair this day being put to the poll, the majority agreed to have said mortgage made over to a substantial trustee to be appointed by said Joseph Bennet, and also that the sum of £10 be paid said Bennett in consideration of his loosing several years' rent and the buildings fallen to ruin. That £1114s. 4d. be paid Isaac Bussy for candles from 6 March, 1747, to 18 Sep., 1748. Present-Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs, the Recorder; Alden. Atkins, Millerd, Croker, Jackson, Fuller, Parker, Winthrop, Taylor; Mr. Travers, Dring, and Ald. Lavit. We consent to all the acts but one relating to the Recorder. James Chatterton, Sheriff, Will Winthrop, Walt. Lavit, Rob. Travers, Rob. Dring. 14 Sep., 17~9. By an order of 26 April, 1749, Ald. Millerd, Jun., was ordered the expenses he was put to as Mayor by Joseph Hoare, Esq., and said Millerd having produced Mr. Rull and M.r. Lane, Attorneys, bill, £25 8s., ordered, it be paid. That Robt. Hoare's bill of cost, .£18 6s. lOd., for two years; be paid. That James Bennett, having served Robt. Long, Victualler; Robt. Lane, having served Will Lane, Mercht. ; Tho. Barry, having served Christ. Carleton, Mercht.; Benj. Sullivan, Attorney ; Mr. Will. Snow, Attorney, and Mr. Thos. Allyn, Attorney, be admitted free.
