ARREARS OF RENTS RETURNED DY THE CHA)ffiERLAIN.

That a letter of Attorney be perfected to Stephen Ilopkins, to empower him to receive and distrain for all rents, &c., due to said Corporation. The Chamberlain having returned arrears of rents and other debts to tlte Corporation from sundry persons, many of which are disputed, ordered, that the Mayor, Sheriffs, C. S., Ald. Croker and Owgan be appointed to inspect into the nature of the flemands and peruse the leases, and report. That J ehoshaphat Huleatt be allowed £28 lOs. for receiving £570 Os. 4-jd. in the South Milk 1\Iarket, and that the remaining part of his bo.llance, £18 ls. 7}d. be remitted said Huleatt in consideration of his going to Dublin on account of the Corporation, &c., and several good services. That the £450 borrowed from Adam Newman, Esq., be paid to tho Chamberlain. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Cox and Philpott, Mr. Recorder; Ald 80 .Austin, Huleatt, Newman, Croker, Jackson, Fuller, Parker, Owgan, Winthrop; Mr. Travers, Dring, and Browne. 15 May, 1745. No business for want of nine of the Council being present with the Mayor and Sheriffs. Present--Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs; Ald 00 • Austin, Huleatt, Croker, Fuller, Parker., Owgan ; Mr. Carre, Dring, and Rich. Gaggin, U. S. 2 July, 1745. This day, Mr. Robt. Newenham, Common Speaker, took the oath of a Council man. Ordered, that .£26 98. Sd. be paid John Croker, Esq., agent in Dublin for defending the Mayor, &c., on account of their giving judgment in the Tholsel Court in a cause between Will. Fuller, Esq., and Andrew Arnold, and in another at the suit of Fade and Willcox against said Arnold, also recording the certificate of the Mayor being sworn, &c., in the Exchequer. That £63 138. 3d. be paid Revd. John Baily, three years and three- quartes salary for attending the City Gaol, also twenty-three occasional Sermoll6 preached before the Corporation. That £15 28. Sd. be paid Mr. Elias Mainanduc for liveries supplied tOO Blue Boys and 'Change Porter, in Sep., 1743.
