26 Sep., 1743. That £8 18s. 7ld. be paid John Ireland, for Smith's work ; £7 17 s. 5d. to John Richar<lson, Chandler, for candles, from 15 Jan. to 17 inst. ; £6 15s. 5d. to Mr. Daniel Crone, for 50 barrels of coals, measuring and porterage ; £22 1s. 3!d. to Gabriel Newth, glazier, for work done at the New Corn Market house, and sawder for said work; £14 12s. 4!d. to Rich d. Noble, glazier, for work done on the Exchange and Shambles, and sawder supplied; £1 18s. 8d. to Tho. Dyer, glazier, work done to City Court House, Guard House at Blackpool, to 5 July last; 18s. 4!d. to John Batty, for brooms, turf, &c., to SO July; £1 4s. 1d. to Will. Owgan, Esq., paid by him for scales and beams and weights, and measuring the distances for lamps, &c. ; £2 5s. 6d. to Mr. Mayor and Sher. Smith, to be distributed amongst those who assisted in extinguishing the fire which lately broke out in Colman's Lane. That the Chamberlain pay Mr. John Harper a bill drawn by Mr. Preavero on the Mayor for News sent to the Corporation for several years past. Present-Mr. Mayor, Sher. Smith; Alden. That John Roger's proposal for painting the Corporation Gallery in Christ Church and the King's Arms is approved of, and when done to have £8 18s. Present-Mr. Mayor,. both Sheriffs; Alden. Atkins, Millerd, Austin, Huleatt, Croker, G. Fuller, Jackson, Wm. Fuller, Parker, Owgan; Mr. Carre, Travers, and Dring. 22 Dec., 1743. Whereas the Brewers of this City have lately obtained a Charter from His Majesty, for incorporating them into a body Corporate, and it is con- sidered by this board that the granting said Charter is an infringement on the privileges granted to this City by the Charters thereof, whereby the Mayor, &c., are empowered to appoint several sub-corporations of trades
