Whereas 1\fr. Davis received £25 in part for his bill for the entertainment on account of the Prince of Orange's marriage, ordered, that he have a further sum of £13 on giving a receipt in full of his bill. Mr. William Kelly to be admittted free on his petition, recommended by the Mayor and Sheriffs. Present-Mr. Mayor, Mr. Mayor Elect, Sher. Dring; Alden. Morley, Terry, Atkins, Millerd, Austin, Croker; Mr. Engain, Jackson, Farren, C. S. 19 A U[J., 1734. By an order of the Court of D. H. held 15 Aug., 1734, in these words: " It being the opinion of this Court that the present number of Justices of the Peace of this City is not sufficient to attend and do the business thereof, It is ordered, that the Common Speake~ do attend the Council of this City and move them to consent that a petition be forthwith preferred to his MajY. for a further Charter or Grant to make every Alderman of this City after serving as Mayor a Justice of the Peace, and for such further grant and privileges as the Council shall judge to be necessary and advantageous to said City, and that the charges be defrayed by this City, which order was brought in by Mr. Abraham Farren, C. S., by way of Petition. And wherea'3 there was this day thirteen of the number of the Common Council present when the question was put whether there should be a petition to his Maj., ten being for the petition and three against it, ordered, that said Petition be preferred, and that Mr. Recorder prepare the petition. Present-Mr. Mayor and Mayor Elect, Sher. Lavit and Dring ; Alden. Delahoide, Morley, Bennett, Millerd, Austin, Croker; Mr. Carye, Engain; Jackson, Ab. Farren, C. S. 24 Aug., 1734. That Mr. Thos. Bousfield. be added to the gent. ordered to examine Mr. Martin's last accounts. That Ald. Morley be added to those appointed to examine Ald. Croker's accounts relating to the Gateage.
