OVERSEERS FOR REBUILDING THE COUNTY GAOL.
That Richard Browne, eldest son of the Mayor, having served his father, be admitted a freeman. Present-Mr. Mayor, John Atkins and Willm. Lane, Sheriffs ; Ald. Crone, Phillips, Morley, Broclesby, Bennett, Atkins; Mr. Morrison, Foucault, Fuller, Mr. Com. Speaker. 15 ltov., 1727. The question being put whether the Common Speaker should be admitted in the Council, it was carried in the negative by a majority. At the desire of Wm. Maynard, Redmond Barry, Anthony J ephson and Jno. Delacourt, Esqrs., Overseers for rebuilding the County Gaol, in behalf of the County Corke, ordered, that they be accommodated with as much ground as Mr. Mayor or any five or more members of the Council shall think proper, not exceeding three feet southwards or five feet eastwards of the foundation of the present gaol, to be referred to the Court of Deer Hundred. That the £300 taken at interest from Christopher Rogers, Esq., by order 17 Sep. 1719 be paid off, and same sum to be taken up from Benj. Roberts at 5 per cent., for the use of Bretridge's and Skiddy's Hospitals, and that Mr. Maunsell, Treasurer, discharge the interest due. The orders of the Court of Deer Hundred for payment of £5115s. 8d. to Mr. Herbert Phaire, the expense the day of the King's coronation; £13 lOs. 4d. to Mr. Mayor for ale, fireworks and music; also to Mr. Phaire £14 16s. 3d. for an entertainment on the day of his late Majestie's accession; also £20 16s. 6d. to Mrs. Mary Pennington for the entertainment on his present Maj. birth day; read and agreed to. That Ald. Bennett do provide seven folio prayer-books for the use of the Corporation in the Churches, three whereof to be gilt for the Mayor's \ cushion and the others for the other seats. That the Chamberlain pay ~Ir. Will. Lane £3 3s.10d. for the approbation of the Mayor and Sheriffs for filing a certificate in the Exchequer of their being sworn. Present-Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs ; Alden. Delahoid, Phillips, Ph. French, Ab. French, Morley, Bennett, Cramer, Atkins ; Mr. }""oucault, Austin, and Fuller.
