THE OFFICERS' GUARD-ROOM TO BE NjT IN REPAIR.

11 Oct., 1725. Ambrose Cramer, Esq., Mayor.

Mr. Mayor, Mr. Sheriff Francklin were sworn of the Council during their office, and Mr. Com. Speaker was sworn to keep the secrets of the Council. Ald. Geo. Bennett, late Mayor, was sworn a Member of the Council. That Ald. Jtforley, the two Sheriffs, Mr. Croker, Foulkes, and Mr. Com. Speaker to examine Mr. Martin's accounts relating to the gateage, and report. That the Officers' Guardroom be put in repair, Ald. Ab. French to ovel'· see it. That £3 3s. 10d. be paid Mr. Will. Lane for the approbation of the Mayor, and returning a certificate. That Thomas Dant and Jtfr. Wooclrufe attend J.Ir. Croker, and Mr. Foulks to measure the work at Blackrock, and the committee appointed to examine Mr. Martin's accounts examine the charge at Blackrock. That John Flemming be paid £5 in full, having produced his particulars. That 4 7 s. be paid Ald. Morley in full for his account. That £10 be paid for an entertainment on the King's Coronation, and that Ald. Ab. French, Mr. Sheriff Francklyn and Mr. Com. Speaker do provide same. That the suit commenced by Ald. Hawkins against a presentment for raising money for mending the high-ways be prosecuted and proper methods taken to oblige him to pay same. That Lieut.-Col. Edwd. Richball, of Col. lfurray's Regt. of foot, having obliged the Corporation on a special occasion, be made a freeman at large. Present -lfr. Mayor, Mr. Sheriff Francklyn ; Alden. Crone, Delahoid, Phillips, Morley, Terry, Lavit ; lfr. Morrison, Croker, Foulks, Fran. Row- land, Com. Speaker (postea), Ald. Ab. French. 2 Nov., 1725. That £10 19s. 3d. be paid Mr. James Crook for the cloathing the two Blue Coats and the Porter of the Exchange, with a cockade to Peter Dean. That Richard, son of Robt. Noble, be admitted into the Blue Coat Hos- pital at the recommendation of Mr. J os. Austen. 58
