Goddard were this day sworn of the Common Council. Edward Webber, gent., to be admitted free gratis. Present-Theophilus Morris, Esq., Mayor; Berkeley Taylor and John Allin, Esqs., Sheriffs; Alden. Crone, Love, French, Roberts, Goddard; Mr. Perrie, Mr. Wills, Mr. Champion, Mr. Browne. 20 Oct., 1699. Whereas by Charter granted to the Corporation, the Common Council is to consist of 24 besides the Mayor and two Sheriffs, and as our Council now consists of 26 besides the Mayor and two Sheriffs, by majority of votes Mr. Thomas Walker and Mr. John Teny were ordered to be struck out of tho Council, and no longer to be summoned thereon, and the Common Council to be made up of the persons whose names ensue, viz.-
