.SKIDDYE'S ALMS-IIOUSE WITHOUT NORTH GATE TO BE FINISHED.

Hopewell, adjoyning to Ormond's quay, set to Ald. Tuckey for 99 years, at a yearly rent of 11s. ster. Present-Mr. Mayor, Mayor elect, both Sheriffs: Alden. Newenham,, Tuckey, Wright, Crone; J.fr. Walker, J.fr. Perrie, Mr. Champion, J.Ir. Browne. 19 Oct., 1698. Ordered, that Ald. Crofts, Ald. French, Ald. Love, Ald. Roberts, or any three of them, treat with Mr. Walsh about the ground on the South on which the Barracks are to be built, unto part of which he claims to have right, a1id enquire into his title, also to treat with Capt. Dunscombe about the ground on the North. Present-William Goddard, Esq., J.Iayor ; Wm. Andrews and Edmond Yeomans, Sheriffs; Alden. Newenham, Wright, Crofts, Crone, Love, French, Roberts ; Mr. Walker, Mr. Perrie, Mr. Champion, Afr. Browne. 14 Nov., 1698. Orde1·ed, that the money that belongs to Skiddye's Alms-house, without North gate, be applied towards finishing same, and that Ald. French buy 300 deals in order to go on with the work next spring. That Caleb Synderby, mercht., be admitted the Mayor's freeman. Present-Mr. Mayor, both Sheriffs; Alden. Wright, Crofts, Crone, Renew, Love, French, Roberts; Mr. Walker, Mr. Perry, Mr. Wills, Mr. Browne. 12 Jan., 1698. Ordered, that Mr. Mayor have power to treat with Sr. Richd. Cox and· Tho. Allett, Esq., Commissioners for the Right Honl. the Earl of Rumney, empowered to set some part of the Earl's estate, and to give in proposals· unto them, not exceeding 100 pounds, fo:c the ground on the south belong- ing to said Earl whereon the Barracks are to be built, and what he shall do therein to bind this Council.
