Dunscombe, Mills, Wright, Rogers, Newen- ham, Tuckey, Webber, Mr. Ronaine, Sher. Greene, Sher. Roberts, Mr. Hovell, .Mr. Terry, Mr. Chartres, Mr. Crone. 1 Aug., 1691. Whereas Judge Cox hath sent in an amount of the Citie's Charge for the Camp. of 2lli. 14s. ster. per week, ordered that a special sessions be called on Monday next, for raising 50 pounds, which will serve for a fort· night, and other contingent charge. Whereas the sealing of leather, and the Water bailiff's place of this City do of right belong to the Corporation by Charter, who have appointed fit persons to officiate in both, ordered, that the Corporation defend their right against all persons pretending right thereto. Whereas Ald. Dunscombe hath petitioned this board for an abatement of six pounds peT annttm out of the Great Marsh, and it appearing that the said Marsh is a hard bargain at 26 pounds peT annttm., and he a great losei" by his disbursements, and making no advantage of the premises, ordered, that Ald. Dunscombe, paying down 100 pounds ster. into the hands of the Chamberlain for the use of the Corporation, shall hold said Marsh at the rate of ten pounds ster. pe1· annum, punctually to be paid, without saying he hath not enjoyed same. Ordered, that Mr. William Ronaine be abated the ten pounds peT an- ttttm he pays for the Town Clerk's office, for the time past, and until he be informed by the Mayor, &c., that the times are settled by a general and perfect peace throughout this Kingdom. Present-The Mayor; Aid Dunscombe, Mayor elect ; Ald. Rogers; Sher. Greene, Sher. Roberts, Mr. Hovell, Mr. Chartres, Mr. Walker, Ald. Newen 4 ham. 19 Aug., 1691. Ordered, that the Mayor, &c., do grant a Charter to incorporate a body of men by the name of the Guild or Society of Wholesale and Retayling mer- chants, to be made up by such as are freemen at large of this Corporation, 28
