ELECTION OF MAYOR, ETC.-A SICKLY YEAR.
3 Oct., 1642. Mem. Curire Civitatis Corcke tempore J ohan Roche fz. Mauricii, Armig. Maioris. Ricardi Gallwey et Philippi Roche, Vicecomit. ejusdem Civitatis. Same day, Richard Gallwey was sworn one of the Sheriffs, Philip Roche, the other Sheriff, being extreme sickly. Thomas Gould, Esq., was sworn Recorder. Mr. David Thyrry fz. Edmond was sworn a Justice of the Peace, Domi- nick Roche fz. William, Ald., and one of the four Justices of the Peace within said City and County, being deceased, so as it fell unto Ald. Thyrry's turn. Richard Roche and Thomas Martell, Ald., were sworn two of the six Aldermen of the Ward, according to the last Charter of King Charles. Richard Gould, Serjeant at Mace, Domk. Roche being extreme sickly. James Roche fz. Patricke and Stephen Gallwey fz. Patricke, Porters. John Skiddy fz. Richard, one of the petty Serjeants at Mace. Pieres Shea, Water Bailiff. Mr. Patrick Arthoure, Common Speaker. 13 Oct., 1642. Mr. Robert Thyrry fz. Robert was sworn in open Court one of the Sheriffs of this City, on the decease of Mr. Philip Roche fz. Morris, formerly elected, yet died before he came to take his oath. Mr. Domt. Roche fz. Richard, of Kinsale, upon his humble suit in open Court, was admitted free. This Monday, in regard of the multiplicity of other business, the Mayor came not to Court, so nothing was done. 24 Oct., 1642. Mr. Richard Gallwey, Esq., one of the Sheriffs, was sworn Chamberlain. Edmond fz. Gerrald, one of the Petty Serjeants. George Morroghe and Thomas Fitz Gerrald, Overseers of the City revenues. Garrett Gould, Second Serjeant at Mace during the Mayor's pleasure. 25 Oct., 1642. George Gould fz.
