ADMISSION OF FREEMEN.

21 Aug., 1798. Ordered, £10 12s. 4d. for an English News Paper furnished to the Man- sion House; It., that the Committee for setting the Gateage Tolls for next year be su:mni.oned to meet on Wednesday; It., that the Tolls. &c., called Anchorage and Ballast, &c., be Jet for one year by sealed proposals, as last year (same terms); It., that a posting for the electing a Waterbailiff for the ensueing year be put up in the Exchange, salary, £60 ; It. that one half of the neat produce of the aforesaid Tolls, &c., be expended in cleaning and improving the harbour. That Bonnis Berry, Esq., brother to the Mayor, and at his request; Henry Harding, Esq., of Hardingrove, co. Limerick, Esq., at the request of Sher. Harding; Thomas Stubbeman, gent., at the request of Sheriff Cuth- bert; Stawell Webb Terry, gent., eldest son of Carden Terry; John Hawkes, Jun., Esq., eldest son of John Hawkes, Esq.; John White, Esq., Counc.-at- Law, eldest son of Tho. W., be admitted freemen at large. Present--The Mayor and Sheriffs ; Alden. Owgan, Shaw, Thompson, Lucas, Sir V. Pick:; Mr. W estropp and Pope, C. S. 11 Sep., 1798. Ordered, that £7 17s. 9d. be paid Anthony Edwards, stationer, his ac- count; It., £66 148. 8!d. to Will. Flyn, Printer, his account from 8 Sep., 1796 to 11 Sep.,1798; It., £60 to John Newman, cooper, for 20 Coal Barrels; It., £1 18s. 10ld. to Harriet Bottomly, for repairing the Curtains and Carpets at the Mansion House; It., that the Mayor, Sheriffs, and C. S. be a com- mittee for examining printing and tradesmen's accounts, and that no account be passed this Council without being first examined, and that notice be given the Printers and Tradesmen that no account will be passed that shall not be furnished every six months, and that for all printing work the Mayor, one of the Sheriffs or Town Clerk's order shall be produced, for tradesmens' accounts the order of the Mayor and one of the Sheriffs, or C. S., or of the Mayor or of one of the Sheriffs and one of the Committee, for all work charged for, shall be produced, and that every affidavid to every such account shall state that no such prin~ing work or no such tradesman's work has been done without such orde~, each account to be furnished every 25 March and 29 Sepr.; It., £27 7B. 7d. to George Barber. for money paid and work done.
