next, and that a further sum of 5 guineas be paid said C. Greaves if the work be approved of, said sum to be paid out of the funds of said charity; It., that the Mayor, Sheriffs, C. S., Ald. Harris, Shaw, Mr. Lucas, and Bus- steed, with six to be appointed by the C. D. H., be a committee to open the ground opposite the Corn Market, for widening the street, in such manner as shall appear most conducive to the beauty of the City and the health of the inhabitants; It., That £52 15s. be paid John Warner, painter, &c., for repairing the Cupola of the Exchange, the lead over the Council Chamber, painting and whitewashing, do., and the Exchange inside and outside, repairing windows, &c.; It., four guineas to Thomas Taylor for curing the Council Chamber chilnneys from smoking; It., £54 9s. 8d. to Charles Broad, stone cutter, for cleaning and colouring in distemper the North and West fronts of the Exchange, and the South and East returns, for repairing the fractured parts, making a new neck to one of the Urns, for pointing _the joints of the stone work with Tarrar morter, finding scaffolding, cramps and lead, pursuant to estimate, &c. ; It., £12 to the Mayor and Sheriffs, to be by them expended in repairing the roof of the C•Jrn Market; It., that a contract be entered into with John Carthy, Mason, for the new paving the North and South Main Streets, beginning at the ~North end of the North Bridge and ending at the Grate at the South end of South Bridge, including the pavement about the Grate, computed to contain 6234 square yards of pave- ment for the sum of £216 17s. 9d., and for keeping same in repair for six years, at 12 guineas for the first of said six~ years, and 24 guineas for each of the remaining five years, said Carthy gLving security to the Mayor, &c., for £116 178. 9d., arid to deliver up the streets in good order. Whereas it appears necessary to this 1 loard that 450 additional Lamps, Lamp Irons, and Burners are wanted for completely lighting this City, many parts being at present without any, ordered, that the Mayor do advertize for proposals for same; It., that the Mayor, Sheriffs, C. S., Ald. Harris, and Shaw, Mr. Burgess Lucas, Busteed, and "\Vestropp, with an equal number appointed by the C. D. H., be a committee to inspect the works now doing for the Corporation.
