Scope and Content: Charles thanks Daniel for sending 12 copies of his book 'A Historical Pedigree of the Sliochd Feidhlimidh, the MacCarthys of Gleannacroim'. He says he is glad to see that some documents he gave Daniel "have proved so useful for you." He suggests that Daniel adds a tabular pedigree with dates to the second edition of the book, and that a glossary may be necessary for his English readers. He also asks if he can add an insert with errata to the 12 copies of the book before circulating them.

Scope and Content: Charles writes that he has to retract the statement made in his letter yesterday, that the French pedigree of Charles is an original, as he has found evidence that it is a transcript. He discusses the penal laws and their implications for Catholics with regard to land ownership, and says he would like to visit the Public Records Office at the Four Courts in Dublin to consult a number of documents, which he lists.
