Scope and Content: Incomplete letter. Lyons discusses Eugene MacCarthy "Ould Root", and how reliable he is as a source of information about Daniel's family and the history of Dunmanway. Lyons writes that according to Eugene, Daniel’s ancestors once owned all of Dromdeega tow nland, and then moved to the nearby townland of Inchi-an-Choirki [Inchincurka]. Part of the letter [which is no longer extant] is transcribed in PR70/C/3/p15.

Scope and Content: Lyons writes that he has found a reference in Richard F Cronnelly's 'Irish Family History' to the "Caoine [keen] of Taidhg-an-Duna", which is apparently held in the manuscript collection of the library of Maynooth College. He discusses the Crowley and Hurley families who are apparently related to Daniel, and says he will try and make enquiries regarding Daniel's genealogy before he publishes his next book. He discusses the cognomen Glas, and the Shuldham family and their interest in MacCarthy lands. There is an additional postscript concerning a translation by Daniel which Lyons corrects.
