Lawlor writes to thank Daniel for his letter and describes Daniel's book [?The Life and Letters of Florence MacCarthy Reagh] as a labour of love. He says that his grandmother was a MacCarthy and that he published a book earlier in the year.

Letter from unidentified individual. The author of the letter writes that he has been reading Daniel's book ['The Life and Letters of Florence MacCarthy Reagh ...'] with great interest, and that he is the grandson of Daniel Leary, who is descended from Cormac Glas. He asks for Daniel's help to find an employment situation and assures Daniel that he is polite scholar with sober habits and genuine character. The letter is possibly missing pages, and is not signed by the author.

Scope and Content: Letters from Jane Leslie "née MacCarty [MacCartie] of Carrignavar". Jane was the widow of Reverend Horatio Townshend, and her second husband was William Burton Leslie. Her letters are mostly written from Kincraigie, Courtmacsherry, County Cork, but she also wrote from "Creg" [Cregg Castle, Fermoy, County Cork - the home of a first cousin of her husband, Mr Hyde], and Queen's Hotel, Queenstown [Cobh], County Cork. None of her letters are dated with the year in which they were written, so it is difficult to establish the timeline. It appears that Jane first wrote to Daniel regarding the publication of 'The Life and Letters of Florence MacCarthy Reagh ...' [1867], and that
