Descriptive list of the Daniel MacCarthy (Glas) Collection
Scope and Content: This letter is concerned with the various pedigrees of several notable MacCarthy individuals and was originally enclosed with a letter from John Lyons, Catholic Curate, Inchigeelagh, County Cork to Daniel MacCarthy dated 29 August 1873. See PR70/C/2/p60 for a transcription of this letter.

Scope and Content: Hoey writes that Daniel's letter was forwarded to him in Ireland, where he had travelled following the deaths of two family members. He says that he found Daniel's book ['The Life and Letters of Florence MacCarthy Reagh ...'] on his return to London, and regrets that it is too late to feature the book in the July number of the 'Dublin Review', but he will do his best to feature it in future numbers.

Scope and Content: Hurley writes that despite not having met Daniel, he has taken the liberty of writing to him after hearing of his interest in Dunmanway and the surrounding area. He tells Daniel that he is hoping to set up a girls school in Togher as there is none at present, and asks if Daniel will donate to the building of the school.
