Scope and Content: Donovan encloses his review of Daniel's book 'A Historical Pedigree of the Sliochd Feidhlimidh, the MacCarthys of Gleannacroim' [not included] which was published in the 'Skibbereen Eagle' newspaper. He adds that he trusts that the review has met with Daniel's approval. Donovan notes that "Collins' daughter to whom you refer [?in 'A Historical Pedigree ...'] "died or rather was killed lately in Skibbereen." He adds that "a quantity of manuscripts ... which she had at one time in her possession were dispersed of to various persons by her son, who went to America some years ago." Donovan mentions writing "occasional sketches on the antiquities and topography of Carbery" [for the 'Skibbereen Eagle']; these articles were collected together and published as 'Sketches in Carbery' in 1876.
