Scope and Content: It appears that Cronnelly discusses a letter written by Ellen [?Eleanor] MacCarthy and says that it does not tell them anything new, and that he is certain that Daniel's pedigree is correct. The copy letter from Cronnelly is included on page 13 in a file which includes several other letters copied by Daniel from the following individuals: Morgan William O'Donovan (The O'Donovan); Elinor MacCarthy; Michael O'Sullivan; and William John O'Donnavan.

Scope and Content: The letter discusses the interwoven and complex marriages of the MacCarthy family in Cork and Dalton's knowledge of the MacCarthy family lineage. Dalton recounts MacCarthys dying in the East Indies, MacCarthys as members in the National Gallery of London, MacCarthys emigrating to America, and how Edmund Shuldham married into the MacCarthy family. Dalton also discusses his mother's close relationship to a Charles MacCarthy (Duna) and that he, Dalton, was acquainted with in his daily life.

Scope and Content: O'Neill Daunt returns Daniel's "papers" [not included] and says that he knows "little or nothing concerning the O'Hurley's or O'Muirilly's of Ballinacarriga" [County Cork]. He discusses the history of several towns and townlands in County Cork including Ballymoney and Bandon, and various castles. He also discusses the marriage of Edmund Shuldham to Mary MacCarthy, and mentions that he received similar queries in the past from [?John O'Donovan].
