Letter from John Cotter [Parish Priest, Dunmanway, County Cork] to Daniel
MacCarthy, Barnstable [UK]. Level: Item Extent: 4pp Part of: PR70/B Scope and Content:
Cotter writes that he does not think the MacCarthy monument which Daniel had erected in the Catholic church requires "anything further done to it." He notes that the Caen stone which frames the monument is dull due to it being set into a damp wall, but that a recent repair to the gutter should improve the dampness and cause the stone to "bleach and improve generally." He also notes that the stone of the monument is a rough grain which catches and retains dust. He apologises for not thanking Daniel for sending him a copy of his book when he was appointed to the parish.
