Scope and Content: Two copies of the notice regarding Percy Bysshe Shelley's "lost" poem 'A Poetical Essay on the Existing State of Things', the dedication of which makes reference to Daniel MacCarthy's father-in- law, Sir Home Popham. See letter from Denis to Daniel dated 7 January 1870. The notice reads: "Please have search made for a short POEM, published separately as a Volume at London in 1811 ... A fair price will be paid for a Copy on its being forwarded to DF MacCarthy Esq., 2 Cavendish Terrace, Clapham Common, London, S.W."
