Descriptive list of the Daniel MacCarthy (Glas) Collection
depicts [?Henry] standing outdoors next to a brick building. He appears to be in a white military uniform and wears a pillbox hat. An inscription on the reverse of the photograph reads: "Wet him and place him on clean marble and all the wrinkles will smooth out."

Scope and Content: The headstone consists of a large black stone cross and the following inscription: "In memory of [Henry] Popham T MacCarthy Captain Royal Artillery who died at Madras 5th February 1865, aged 28 years and 9 months. This monument [?is] raised by his brother soldiers." A metal railing surrounds the grave plot. The name of the photographer is printed on the reverse: "J West photographer Madras".
