Scope and Content: Denis MacCarthy and Catherine Crowley were Daniel MacCarthy's grandparents. According to a note by Daniel, they lived at Dromdeega near Dunmanway, and Denis died there and was buried in Kilbarry. The testimonial of "Mrs Cain" was sent to Daniel's uncle, Justin MacCarthy and was signed in the presence of John Newman. The testimonial was copied onto parchment by Daniel on 21 September 1873.
