Scope and Content: Ellen writes to inform Daniel of the death of her father, Charles McCarthy (Duna) on 10 February 1865. According to the letter, Charles had been “bedridden” for the “last nine years”.

Scope and Content: Timothy writes that Jerry an Duna [Jeremiah McCarthy Duna] is now in Cork, and that he requested “Mr O’Sullivan of Carregness, his near relative” to ask Jerry about Daniel MacCarthy’s query. A note on the letter written by Daniel reads: “This letter was given to me this day 15th September 1852 by John O’Donovan, author of Annals of the Four Masters – D. MacCarthy.”
