Scope and Content: Notes on various notable MacCarthys from Irish history by an unknown author. This document appears to be part of a series of documents which are stuck in-between pages 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10- 11, 12-13, 16-17, and 18-19 of the volume. They may be part of th e “papers” mentioned by Edwin Windele in his letter dated 2 October 1866 [see page 1].

Scope and Content: Professor MacCarthy encloses [not included] extracts from manuscripts which he has attempted to translate from Irish. He employed a “young man … who is an excellent Irish scholar” to help with the translation but he also failed with one of the extracts. Professor MacCarthy suggests Daniel contacts John O’Daly of Anglesea Street, Dublin who is a “better Irish scholar.”
