Scope and Content: Professor MacCarthy encloses [not included] extracts from manuscripts which he has attempted to translate from Irish. He employed a “young man … who is an excellent Irish scholar” to help with the translation but he also failed with one of the extracts. Professor MacCarthy suggests Daniel contacts John O’Daly of Anglesea Street, Dublin who is a “better Irish scholar.”
