Title:
Letter from [?Thomas Bryan], Prospect Hill, "near Dunmanway", County Cork to
Daniel MacCarthy. Level:
Item
Extent: Part of:
2pp
PR70/B
Scope and Content: [?Bryan] writes in response to a letter Daniel wrote to Father Dohoney, parish priest of Dunmanway on 14 November 1843 requesting to be informed "as to the name and place of residence of your grandfather's father." [?Byran] writes that "no person alive here could possibly give you more satisfactory information on the subject than myself being a descendent of that very family." They share information about Daniel's ancestors, and say that their own father's name was Edward Rotchford [sic]. This would seem to suggest that the author of the letter is not Thomas Bryan, as the surname does not match. The author is possibly a daughter of Edward Rotchford. They ask Daniel to "please direct your letter to Thomas Bryan Esquire, Prospect Hill, near Dunmanway ..."
