Scope and Content: Lyons writes regarding the MacCarthy monument in Dunmanway Catholic church, and includes a sketch of one of its panels, which memorializes Daniel MacCarthy and his wife Harriet. Lyons notes that there is not enough space on the panel to record the date of Daniel's death [4 April 1884].

MacCarthy Collins writes asking Florence for his help in tracing the pedigree of the late Reverend Charles H MacCarthy, Rector of St Werburgh's in Dublin who died in 1878. The author notes that Charles was his mother's brother and that she originally told him that he was a member of the Spanish MacCarthys. He includes a sketch of his own family tree.

Level: file Extent: 2 items (1 letter [1p] and 1 drawing) Part of: PR70/B Scope and Content: The writer of the letter encloses a drawing of the MacCarthy monument erected by Daniel MacCarthy in Dunmanway Catholic church in 1872. They note that "Papa's name" [Florence Strachan MacCarthy] would have been included on one of the panels along with his sister [Elizabeth] and brother [Henry Popham] but he was still alive when the monument was erected, so they have asked for Florence's name to be added.

Letters appear to have been written by Alice MacCarthy [née Linton], wife of Daniel's son Florence Strachan MacCarthy, to her son Donal Percy MacCarthy. The letters mainly discuss Donal's recent arrival in New York, USA and his plans to establish a business growing hops or farming poultry.
