Scope and Content: O'Donoghue writes that Daniel's book, 'The Life and Letters of Florence MacCarthy Reagh ...', came up in conversation with the Bishop of Kerry, David Moriarty, and that the Bishop was kind enough to give him his copy. O'Donoughue describes his knowledge of Irish history and family lines in the 16th century.

Daniel prefaces his transcript of O’Donovan’s letter [in PR70/C/2/p6 (from the end of the volume)] with the following note: “Pedigree of the MacCarthys of Glennacroim (sent me by Doctor J. O’Donovan)”. In the letter, O’Donovan says that he has searched all of the manuscripts relating to Irish pedigrees in the British Museum and at Lambeth Palace, and finally found the pedigree of “MacCartie of Glanacrime”, the details of which he then describes. O'Donovan also says in his letter that he has "received the small Giotto" [?a painting by Giotto di Bondone], which he "shall preserve [...] as a memorial of your kindness."
