Scope and Content: Charles thanks Daniel for the "gratitude you conferred on my father [Daniel McCarthy Norso] whilst living and also for the answers to my sister's letters …" He says he treasures the pedigree Daniel sent to his father [?'A Historical Pedigree of the Sliochd Feidhlimidh, the MacCarthys of Gleannacroim'] and that he plans to enlarge and frame the family coat of arms that Daniel sent with it. He says he is married with four children and shares some genealogical information about his wife, Ellen O'Brien.

Scope and Content: McCarthy Norso thanks Daniel for his kind and loving letter, details his own pedigree beginning with his father's lineage to the last Lord of Dunmanway and explains the dispossession of the Glas branch of the MacCarthys of properties in Cork. Next, he discusses the pedigree of the an Duna branch of the MacCarthys. He also expresses his sympathy for the death of Captain [Henry (Rico)] MacCarthy, Daniel's son.

Scope and Content: McCarthy Norso thanks Daniel for sending the volume and for reminding the people of Dunmanway what the MacCarthy Glas and Norso branches of the clan are. He declares that Daniel belongs in Gleannacroim and not the Cox family. He encloses a picture [not included] of Blarney Castle, which he says was once owned by the MacCarthys.
