Scope and Content: Mary Ann thanks Daniel for the postal order which she received from Edwin [Windele]. She notes that her brother, Jeremiah, died last august in an asylum and had been a patient there since he was 18 years of age. An annotation written by Daniel reads: "Death of Jeremiah son of the late Charles an Duna".

Scope and Content: McCarthy writes that he has arrived in Southampton to find employment, that he hoped to find Daniel at home in Southampton but could not, states that he is a nephew of Dr McCarthy of Maynooth whom Daniel corresponded with previously, and that his mother was the daughter of John MacDonald of Dunmanway. Geoffrey declares that he has had a fair education, can speak French and Spanish and he hopes that Daniel will help him find employment in England.
